Infinivania
Escape from the painted worlds of the mad Vladovich von Painter in this procedurally generated classic action platformer! Face hordes of undead, demons, and evil pumpkins as you fight your way out of a nightmare!
- Experience the game feel of the NES classics--time your attacks and jumps carefully, or fall to your doom
- No two runs are alike - Vlad will paint you a new unique challenge with every new game
- Enjoy great fan chiptune remixes
- Four different adventurers get trapped in Vlad's nightmare, each with their own subweapons and abilities
- Five painting themes, each with their own unique bosses, enemies and traps
Default controls:
- Move left and right, look up and down, and climb stairs with the arrow keys or a controller DPad
- Attack with the X key or left face button on the controller
- Jump with the Z key or bottom face button on the controller
- Use subweapons by pressing up and attack
- To buy from the end level shop, use up or attack when standing in front of a shop item
Note: Game is in development! We are close to 1.0, which will have a final showdown with Vlad and probably also several bug fixes, balance tweaks, last minute art tweaks, and QOL improvements.
The linux build works great on the Steam Deck - use Steam Inputs to map the controller to the keyboard bindings.
Update log:
0.1.3 through 0.13.0 - First public release, the Manor and Tower themes, end game content, the Archer and Archaeologist characters, the Werewolf and Royal Sword bosses, metaprogression and UI elements, angel and demon statues, balance changes and bugfixes galore.
0.14.0 - The demon shopkeeper now offers a stopwatch to give you a few extra seconds to escape Vlad's nightmare. Also, the broken sword angel statue item is significantly more potent, and the blood gem demon statue item is a level skip. Numerous other bug fixes and art tweaks.
0.15.0 - So many bug fixes! Coyote time has been added to the core platforming code for all player characters, wolves and jack'o'lanterns """should""" never get stuck on corners again, homing attacks such as lightning bolts or the archer's homing arrow upgrade should correctly ignore "sleeping" enemies and hit bone dragons in their dumb faces, and the manor's window decorations should be spaced out more sensibly. An introductory animation has been added to new run starts as well.
0.16.0 - A new boss, Medusa, has been slithering about the highest levels of the clock tower! Also, Vlad has several new tooltips and has otherwise sharpened his antagonizing wits, treasure chests occasionally spawn to offer a nice pile of goodies, and some small improvements have been made to the level generator in preparation for the next level theme.
0.17.0 - Major balance changes! The game now ramps up in difficulty and spicyness much more quickly, and rewards for beating bosses now scale exponentially - these changes combined should result in needing many fewer runs through the game to buy lots of upgrades for characters, and those runs should be much more interesting on average. Also, lots of visual FX have been updated.
0.18.0 - The Cave level theme has been added to Vlad's paintings! This will be the final level theme added to the game before our 1.0 release, which is coming Soon(tm). Also the crazy amount of Score awarded for boss kills has been pulled back a bit (not to 0.16.0 and before levels, but not showering players in cash like 0.17.0 either).
0.18.1 - The windows build has been updated to hopefully have correct code signing. Also somehow the passage of time has made our web build work! Hooray for not needing to download things!

NGL, I got surprised by this game, how could I missed that?!
Its very fun, the only feedback I could give is that the jump is weird, but once you get used to is not a main problem.
GREAT WORK HERE.
